Biography:

Trained as a software engineer and worked for 2 years as a C++ systems developer for a billing mediation provider (Openet Telecom) in Ireland. Tasks involved developing software to collect data from networks using different telecommunications protocols, which then fed the collected data into the central mediation system. This work also involved travel to France and the US, to develop onsite and to help with the technical end of client presentations.

After a couple of years the big OE beckoned and Patrick left Ireland for New Zealand. Upon arrival he started work in the Ministry Of Economic Development which saw extremely varied work. Patricks main role for the first two years was creating an in-house system for managing contact into the MED. This system is still used today and helped the contact centre achieve ISO9001 (Quality) certification. Patrick also setup several Open Source systems for blogs and surveys and worked on the Plone CMS. Patrick also automated the reporting for the many Stakeholders’ monthly reporting tasks.

Patrick then left the MED to return to the world of commercial software development. Philosophically wanting to develop with only Open Source - Egressive was the natural choice.
