About Egressive

It's about the People

Egressive is, above all, a collection of talented, committed, and likeable people. We pride ourselves in having a very wide range of skills for our size.

There's plenty more about our people on the site.

History

Egressive was founded in 1998 and is based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Egressive was among the first companies in NZ to offer commercial support for Linux and other open source software. Dave Lane, a software engineer and former Crown Research Institute scientist, started Egressive to meet the need for reliable, secure and cost-effective networked business IT infrastructure both in the Canterbury region and farther afield.

Over the years, Egressive has employed some very talented people, many of whom have gone on to found their own companies.

Rob Fraser started with Egressive in 2006, and in 2007 he bought in to the company as a part owner and director.  Before coming to Egressive, he had a technical and management background in Information Technology in Health organisations and government agencies.

We currently have a staff of seven, allowing us to provide solid, robust solutions and support, while still being nimble enough to tailor our solutions to our customers' requirements.

What's in a Name?

The name Egressive is based on the word "egress" with an "ive" on the end (to make it a statement of being).  One of the meanings of egress is an opening for going out.  When we first started, part of our purpose was to provide a way out for businesses locked into expensive or inefficient computer systems.  We are still able to do that for you.
